Barb and I are very sad to hear of David's passing. We think of him very fondly.
He was a generous soul, rightfully proud of his family.
David was a 'Connector,' someone who could strike up a conversation with a stranger in a grocery store and somehow find layers of commonality.
He was so invested in his students; following their careers after college and reveling in their successes. He encouraged others, especially Police and Veterans, to take advantage of opportunities in higher education, and he was a real cheerleader for them.
We had the great luck to travel with David and G-Ann, and David was always excited to share his discoveries with us. Once, he drove us to the start of the Durango-Silverton Railway, picked us up at the end, and continued to give us a tour of the parts of Colorado he loved. It was impossible not to be as enthusiastic as he was about his favorite places.
The long love affair he had with G-Ann was inspirational. The kind of partnership they had is hard to find these days.
The care that G-Ann and you all gave him in his last days is a testament to your loving family.
So much of David's conversation was 'bragging on his family;' and with good reason, the 'Martin Clan' is remarkable in so many ways.
He was a famous story teller; and toward the end, he'd tell the same stories over and over, but we didn't object because they were always interesting.
David's real story is the story of all of you, the fantastic legacy of a great man.
Much love,
Bob and Barb Keeney, proud In-laws
